Top AI SEO Agencies in Canada (2026)

21 Canadian AI SEO, AEO and GEO agencies that sell AI search optimization as a named service, each checked against its own website. Ideahack is first, then everyone else alphabetically. The six questions below work on all of us.

AI SEO, GEO and AEO are one job

Getting your organization quoted accurately when someone asks an AI assistant instead of scrolling a page of links.

Every agency here sells it by name

Each one offers this work as a named service on its own website. We checked every site on 14 September 2026.

Ideahack first, then alphabetical

We publish the list, so we lead it. Nobody after us is ranked.

Test all of us the same way

The six questions further down work on any agency on this page, including us.

How we built this list

We asked ChatGPT, then checked every answer.

On 9 September 2026 we asked ChatGPT, logged out with web search on, the question a real buyer would type: "Which agencies in Canada offer generative engine optimization or AI search optimization?" Logged out matters, because a signed-in account personalises the answer to your own history. We wrote down every agency it named, then opened each one's website and sitemap and looked for a real, named service for this work, not a passing mention of AI on a services list.

We ran the same check on the agencies our tracking software calls our competitors. The two lists didn't match, which turned out to be the most useful thing we learned. On 14 September 2026 we checked every site on this page again, added two established agencies that sell the service but weren't in that answer either, and added eight more from other published lists of Canadian AEO and GEO agencies, checked the same way. Anyone without a named service, or a website that loads, isn't here.

A snapshot from one assistant on one day isn't a ranking. Ask next month and the answer will have moved, which is exactly why the measurement matters more than the list.

Ideahack

Vancouver, British Columbia · since 2011

Best for: First Nations governments, nonprofits and public agencies that want AI search and SEO measured honestly, on one retainer.

Your real questions, re-tested monthly

A fixed set of the questions your buyers actually ask, run through ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity and Google's AI Overviews every month. None of them have your name in the prompt.

The misses, not just the wins

Each report shows where you were cited, where you should have been and weren't, and what we changed. Citation share against the full source pool, not share of voice against a set we picked.

SEO, AI search and Google Ads on one retainer

The assistants read the same index Google does, so rankings, Core Web Vitals, schema and accessibility stay in scope.

The people who pitched you do the work

We're small on purpose. The person who reads your site is the person who fixes it.

How our AI search work runs

Everyone else, in alphabetical order

Not ranked. Agencies marked as named by ChatGPT were in its answer on 9 September 2026, and agencies added after that test carry no badge.

“Named by ChatGPT” means the agency appeared in ChatGPT’s answer to “Which agencies in Canada offer generative engine optimization or AI search optimization?” on 9 September 2026, logged out with web search on. Ideahack was not in that answer, which is part of why we built this page. Asked on 14 September which Canadian agencies build websites for statutory offices and independent government bodies, ChatGPT named Ideahack first.

The finding that surprised us

Some of the most published AI search agencies in Canada weren't in the answer.

dNOVO Group in Toronto has separate service pages for AI search optimization, answer engine optimization and generative engine optimization, and its own roundup of the top AI SEO companies in Canada. Search Engine People has the widest set of AI search pages we found. By any content audit you'd run, both should be among the most visible AI search agencies in the country. Neither was in the answer we got.

Publishing a lot about AI search doesn't reliably get you named in AI search, and any agency telling you otherwise is selling you their content calendar. Our tracking software had a related blind spot: it listed three capable agencies as our competitors that don't sell AI search at all, because assistants named them on broader questions about Canadian web agencies. If you pay for AI visibility tracking, check which prompts the mentions came from before you act on the number.

GEO, AEO, AI search

Four names for the same work, and one is winning.

Generative engine optimization came from an academic paper. Answer engine optimization came from the voice search era. LLM optimization shows up in technical circles. AI search optimization is the plain-language version. Underneath, the job is the same: make your pages easy to quote, keep your facts consistent everywhere they appear, mark them up so machines can parse them, and earn mentions on sites the assistants already trust.

Change in Canadian Google searches over the twelve months to August 2026, from Google Keyword Planner. An agency still leading with GEO is mostly telling you when it last rewrote its website.

Before you sign with anyone

Six questions to ask every agency on this page, including us.

Most of this list can show you a service page. Fewer can answer the first and third questions with a real number in front of you.

01

What do the assistants say about us right now?

Any agency selling this should be able to show you the current answers before you sign anything. If they can't measure the starting point, they can't show you movement later.

How we answer it. We measure before we pitch. We'll run your ten most important questions through four assistants and give you the first three things we'd change, whether or not you hire us.

02

Which prompts will you track, and who else is in the set?

This is where most tools quietly mislead. The prompts should be questions your actual buyers ask, not questions with your name already in them.

How we answer it. Your prompts, not flattering ones. A prompt with your name in it guarantees a mention and measures nothing.

03

How will you report it?

Citation share against the full pool of sources the assistant used is honest. Share of voice against a handful of competitors you picked yourself is close to meaningless, because you chose the denominator.

How we answer it. Citation share against the full source pool, with the misses listed next to the wins.

04

What would you change off our website?

Much of what decides whether you're cited lives on other people's sites: directories, associations, news coverage and reference sources. An agency that only talks about your pages is doing half the job.

How we answer it. We work on the sources too, and for a nonprofit or a First Nations government that's most of the job.

05

Will you fix our Google visibility too?

Assistants retrieve from web search before they answer. A page that doesn't rank rarely gets cited, so anyone selling AI search as a replacement for SEO has it backwards.

How we answer it. Google stays in scope, on the same retainer.

06

Who actually does the work?

Small shops and big ones both work here. What matters is whether the person who understood your situation in the pitch is the person doing it afterwards.

How we answer it. You work with the people who pitched you.

What that looks like on a client's site

A marine conservation nonprofit, one year in.

When we took over their search work, their visibility didn't come close to matching the quality of their science. None of what changed came from a trick aimed at AI. It came from the fundamentals above, applied steadily for twelve months. Read the case study

Where AI already names us

ChatGPT already recommends us for the work we know best.

On 14 September 2026 we asked ChatGPT the questions our own buyers ask. When we asked which Canadian agencies build websites for statutory offices and independent government bodies, it named Ideahack first, called us “probably one of the closest matches I found,” and pointed to our work for BC’s Representative for Children and Youth. For First Nations government websites it named us second in both of our runs, and when it narrowed the shortlist to Nations in BC, Ideahack came first.

Both answers cited ideahack.com. We rebuilt this site in 2026 around the questions buyers actually type, using the same fundamentals this guide describes: pages that are easy to quote, facts that match everywhere, structured data and a clear record of real work. We’ve been doing search from Vancouver since 2011, and we’re running the same playbook on the broader AI SEO searches now... it’s also the first test we’ll run for you, before you sign anything.

Questions

What people ask before hiring an AI SEO agency.

An AI SEO agency works to get your organization named and cited accurately when people ask ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude or Google's AI Overviews instead of scrolling a page of links. The work overlaps with classic SEO: pages that are easy to quote, consistent facts wherever your organization appears, structured data machines can read, and mentions on third-party sites the assistants already trust. A good AI SEO agency also measures it, tracking which buyer questions cite you and which cite someone else, and reports the misses alongside the wins.

Ideahack runs AI search optimization from Vancouver for First Nations governments, nonprofits and public agencies across Canada and the Caribbean, reporting citation share against the full source pool rather than share of voice. Other Canadian AI SEO agencies that sell this work as a named service include Azuro Digital (Ottawa, Ontario), Bloom (Montreal, Quebec), Canopy Media (Toronto, Ontario), Consultus Digital (Toronto, Ontario), Digital 6ix (Toronto, Ontario), Digital Estate Media (Mississauga, Ontario), dNOVO Group (Toronto, Ontario), DoodleWeb Canada (Surrey, British Columbia), EM Digital (Southern Ontario), GrowME Marketing (Calgary, Alberta), Leanne Digital (Winnipeg, Manitoba), Longhouse Branding & Marketing (Langley, British Columbia), Parabolic Studio (Vancouver, British Columbia), Pars Media (Vancouver, British Columbia), Search Engine People (Toronto, Ontario), seoplus+ (Ottawa, Ontario), SOAP Media (Ottawa, Ontario), The Status Bureau (Vancouver, British Columbia), Unite Interactive (Winnipeg, Manitoba) and Vancouver SEO Agency (Vancouver, British Columbia). The list changes as agencies add and rename services, so check the service page before you shortlist anyone.

Ideahack, a Vancouver agency, is first on our list. It sells answer engine optimization (AEO) and generative engine optimization (GEO) as AI search optimization for First Nations governments, nonprofits and public agencies, and re-tests real buyer questions across ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews every month. Other Canadian agencies with named AEO or GEO services include Azuro Digital, Bloom, Consultus Digital, Digital 6ix, Digital Estate Media, dNOVO Group, DoodleWeb Canada, EM Digital, GrowME Marketing, Leanne Digital, Longhouse Branding & Marketing, Parabolic Studio, Pars Media, Search Engine People, seoplus+, SOAP Media, The Status Bureau, Unite Interactive and Vancouver SEO Agency. AEO, GEO and AI SEO describe the same work, so compare agencies on how they measure it rather than on what they call it.

It depends on what you need measured and who your buyers are. Ideahack publishes this guide and lists itself first, and we say so openly. The fairer test is the same six questions put to every agency: what the assistants say about you today, which prompts they track, how they report it, what they change off your website, whether Google stays in scope, and who does the work.

Yes. Generative engine optimization (GEO), answer engine optimization (AEO), LLM optimization and AI search optimization all describe the same work: making your organization easy for AI assistants to find, quote and cite accurately. AI search optimization is the plain-language term and it's the one gaining ground. Canadian searches for generative engine optimization fell 42% over the twelve months to August 2026 while searches for AI search agency rose 378%.

Ask the assistant the question a buyer would ask, in a logged-out session so the answer isn't personalised by your history, with web search on. Write down every name in the order given, then check each one against its own website. Repeat it across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude and Google AI Overviews, because the answers differ by engine and change week to week. Ideahack runs exactly this test for clients every month and reports the misses alongside the wins.

Not on its own. Two of the Canadian agencies with the most published pages on AI search optimization, one with its own roundup of the top agencies in the country, didn't appear in the answer when we ran the question in September 2026. Being cited depends on more than volume: consistent facts, structured data, and credible mentions on third-party sites the assistants already trust.

Most organizations don't need a separate AI search budget. The work overlaps heavily with technical SEO, content and digital PR, so it's usually folded into an existing retainer rather than bought as an extra line item. Be cautious with any agency pricing it as a wholly new service, and ask what portion is work you're already paying for.
